Turkey: Supporters of Galatasaray and Besiktas clashed during a wheelchair match.

Riot started Sunday evening when a group of Besiktas supporters, who were not allowed to visit this match, came into the arena looking for trouble.

After chanting towards each others the violence escalated and supporters from Galatasaray and Besiktas started to fight. Several people injured in the riot, included some of the athletes.

Supporters also trashed the athletes wheelchairs and ripped equipment to pieces. In the end riot police managed to calm down the situation after using tear gas.

There is a bitter rivalry between supporters of Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce in Istanbul. For the latest derbies away fans has not been allowed. But why they decide to start such a shameful riot during a wheelchair game is a mystery for us...
